Group movement changes the access scenario
Young children move with staff, often in organised groups and at different speeds. The project should consider real routes from classrooms and activity areas, the number of accompanying adults and any points where groups may conflict or queue.
Key project questions
- children and staff present at the same time;
- age groups and supervision needs;
- safe and accessible routes to the shelter;
- sanitary facilities and water;
- ventilation and lighting;
- space organisation for groups and staff;
- routine inspection, cleaning and readiness procedures.
Capacity is only one input
A preliminary capacity calculation can help early planning, but final layout must account for all required spaces and the specific design scenario. Do not treat main-room area alone as a complete project conclusion.
