Calculate the emergency drinking-water reserve

Enter the number of people and the planning period. The tool calculates the drinking-water reserve for the stated Ukrainian regulatory scenario and keeps the result separate from the complete water-supply and sanitation design.

For a shelter or dual-purpose structure with capacity of 20 people or fewer and no water-supply connection, the referenced scenario uses 2 L/person/day in portable drinking-water containers. For structures above 20 people, the emergency drinking-water reserve in tanks is calculated at 3 L/person/day. This is not a complete water-supply design.

When an operating external water-supply network is available, the Ukrainian building standard uses separate water-consumption provisions. The complete project must also consider technical water, sanitation, containers, taps, water quality and facility-specific requirements.

The shared Project Passport receives the capacity range while the water calculation is stored in project notes. This tool does not change the shelter type or other project fields without separate source data.

Why the calculator uses two different rates

For a capacity of 20 people or fewer without a water-supply connection, the referenced scenario provides for portable drinking-water containers at 2 litres per person per day. For structures above 20 people, the emergency drinking-water reserve in tanks is calculated at 3 litres per person per day.
